20 reasons to love smart

More go in the snow. Roll over the icons to see how active technology improves acceleration in winter conditions.

  Acceleration Skid Control (asc).
Slick roads have met their match. The fortwo's asc detects drive-wheel slip and prevents loss of traction by braking the slipping wheel. Power can then be re-directed to another wheel with more traction.
  Hill Holder.
So you're on a slope. No sweat. When you remove your foot from the brake to pull away, the wheels remain braked for 0.7 seconds, giving you enough time to move your foot to the accelerator without the car rolling backwards.
  Grip under acceleration.
Because the smart fortwo has a rear engine, the rear weight of the engine is over the drive wheels to provide optimal traction between the front and back of the car. This gives it better grip in slippery conditions, which in turn gives it better acceleration.
